WEDNESDAY 13 - FRIDAY 15 JULY 2011
After an early breakfast, I was picked up from my hotel in mini bus, together with a couple of Melbourne girls, and taken to Ha Long bay, about 3 hours away. We got on our ‘Junk’ boat and after a Vietnamese lunch of several small dishes, we were shown our rooms. I had agreed to share, to keep the cost down, but my room mate turned out to be a German man, called Kristian. I was told someone else would be joining later, and if it was a girl, I would share with her and Kristian would share with the other single man Ricky.
We sailed between the magnificent rock formations – there are over 1,000 small islets in the bay - and then anchored and swam from the boat before dinner. I then discovered, they had put a female, Susan from Holland, to share with Ricky, so we swapped rooms. After dinner, about 10 of us played cards – people from Denmark, Switzerland, Holland, Australia, America and UK.
